Our long experience is your advantage!
In 1924, at a time when raffia ribbon was used primarily as a package sealer, Mr. Bauer founded Bauer & Co., Barmen as a mere raffia ribbon company. Then adhesive tape did not yet exist and for a long time raffia ribbon was used for binding and tying. Later on also silk ribbon was used for packaging.
From 1930, the company’s products were sold at retail stores.
In 1943, the company was completely destroyed by bombings and was shifted to Lambrecht, Palatinate. After the war, Hilde Lorenz (née Bauer) restarted the business in Neustadt/ Weinstraße.
In 1969, the company was bought by Horst and Erika Herr and was transferred to Stuttgart. There the company started to design and produce its own woven ribbons.
In 1974, the company moved into its own premises in Mainhardt, since the necessary expansion of the company was not possible in Stuttgart.
In 1981, the company’s name was changed from Bauer & Co., Barmen into Bauer GmbH (Private Limited Company).
In 1987, the second generation of the Herr family, Steffen Herr and his wife Renate, started to run the business. After Steffen Herr has finished his training as a manufacturer of decorative textiles, everything was produced in their in-house. That could be realised with the new additional offices in Moosbach 5 where Renate Herr managed the company.
In 1991, the company expanded again and generously extended the machinery.
In 2000, the company was handed over to the son and daughter-in-law Steffen and Renate Herr. After 30 years Horst and Erika Herr retired from business.
2003
Purchase of an ultrasonic cutting machine for slitting and cross cutting elastic and non-elastic fabrics.
2005
Purchase of a screen printing machine for three-dimensional fonts.
The Bauer GmbH weaves, dyes, prints and tailors everything in-house, which is only possible due to constant investments in new, modern machines.
